What Do I Have to Offer?

“… may he equip you with all you need for doing his will. May he produce in you, through the power of Jesus Christ, every good thing that is pleasing to him. All glory to him forever and ever! Amen.”
Hebrews 13:21 (NLT)
What do I have to offer? I have asked this question more times than I care to admit. Through the years, I have been told or it has been suggested that what I brought to the table was lacking and therefore insufficient to accomplish anyth
ing of merit. My opinion was not needed nor solicited. This caused me to feel inadequate most times. I saw mothers and women around me putting on their capes and becoming Super Woman. I did well most times just to find clothes that matched much less to find a cape!
I used to want to be the woman that went to work, led the team, made important decisions, and carried out her assignment from God. Now, I just want to focus on carrying out my assignment from God, but I struggle with the insecurities of old and sometimes they prevent me from really stepping out in faith to allow God to use me. Maybe that’s it! I am looking at it as if I am the one responsible for the creation, content, preparation, and completion of the assignment. I’m trying to do what only God can do! He doesn’t say “ok, so what are you going to do for me today?” In other words, He only wants me to be the hands and feet – not the Creator. He will give the inspiration to carry out His objectives. It doesn’t matter to Him if we are top notch in the field. He needs a
willing vessel. He is no respecter of persons (ref. Romans 2:11). I believe that He has given me an assignment to encourage and edify; however, I must remember that He will divinely inspire me and open the doors to resources that I might need to carry out the assignment. This opportunity to serve God is an honor not a burden.
The enemy would have us compare ourselves to others and be filled with doubt so that our gift is rendered useless to the kingdom. We not only doubt ourselves, but we also doubt God. We doubt God when we don’t trust the call and when we don’t trust Him to accomplish it in and through us. God has allowed each of us to have our own journey and our own stories that can minister and speak to people within our reach. He has given us a unique set of skills derived from the unique experiences we have encountered. II Thessalonians 5:24 says, “Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.” That means, if He called us to a particular assignment, He is going to equip us with what we need and will work through us to bring it to pass.
I know that I make this more complicated than it needs to be. He is waiting for me to step out and trust Him with all of the process.
He IS the CREATOR. We are the creation. Colossians 1:16 says, “For by Him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:” Therefore, He will bring His creativity to life in us so that we can successfully carry out His mission.
Father, I pray that you will bless each of us to trust you all the more. Help us to understand that it is not our responsibility to create, but our responsibility to obey and fulfill the inspiration you give us. Help us to follow your Spirit so that we can be fully aware of our potential. Help us to remember that we are fearfully and wonderfully made and that we have been equipped for all that You have created us to be. In Jesus Name, Amen.
